The National Survey on the Profile of the Brazilian Cyclist is the first Brazilian investigation on the profile of urban cyclists and their motivations for using the bicycle. The results aimed to fill a gap where there was little knowledge about cyclists and the use of bicycles as a mode of transportation in Brazil. More than 100 researchers went to fieldwork during July and August 2015 in ten cities from different Brazilian regions: Aracaju, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Porto Alegre, Manaus, Niterói, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo. A total of 5,012 cyclists were interviewed.

  • In November 2016, LABMOB and partners launched the book "Mobilidade por Bicicleta no Brasil", bringing out the discussion of the results accordingly each city. In 2018, the book was translated into English - both versions are available for download.

  • A second edition of the survey was conducted in 2018, covering Brazilian and Latin American cities. See more here.
